Hi Embers,
With Labor Day weekend coming to a close, my sights are on continuing work to be done in the very near future. There are projects to be done on Painted Cave Road, however, it is apparent that we have more pressing issues concerning brush that needs to be addressed on East Camino Cielo from Painted Cave Road to the "Eagle's Nest" area.
We are currently in the process of acquiring gas-powered articulating hedge trimmers for this work. Nick and I tested out this tool and it works incredibly well for this task of cutting star thistle, mustard, and buckwheat. Personally, I am chomping at the bit to start this project, however, progress in this area is dictated by available equipment.
In any case, I am hoping to begin some work this coming Saturday on 9/7 at 8 am and also 9/8 at 8 am. If anyone is interested in coming along, please let me know as soon as possible. And unless I update this post with the awesome news of our acquisition of the hedge trimmers, I will plan to meet people at the "living room" for weed whipping chores on Painted Cave Road.
Thank you everyone for your continuing support.
Michael.
The tool that saved the day, needs to be on our want list!

Here are some photos of what we did today with that gawd awful star thistle. We did this across the road from the Fremont Trailhead and it took us about half an hour.
