MOUNTAIN EMBER TEAM SAFETY GUIDELINES:

Even though life as we know it has grinded to a halt, we still must deal with the fact that fire season will soon be upon us. We must still fulfill the Mountain Ember Team’s (MET) purpose and prepare to provide for the common defense of our community as best we can.

To that end, the MET Board has confirmed that Fuel Management activities are among those that have been declared essential activities exempt from the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order.  This means that our Community Defense Team, including Vegetation Management, is able to continue its work that includes chipping, weed whipping, pile burning etc.

We’d like to assure you that we have procedures in place that reflect general guidelines for performing such work in a manner that ensures the safety of our volunteers. This includes safe distancing, the wearing of masks and gloves as well as decontaminating equipment after each use.

We ask well intentioned community residents to please not take it upon yourself to join any activity you might observe in progress. We are purposely limiting our work groups to 4 or less volunteers so safe distancing can be insured.

Thank you for your continued support.
